
ABOUT
Brendan Hewson is a game designer & artist based in Mayo, Ireland. He spends most of his time making a bunch of different games and is always looking to create something fresh & fun. He usually uses Godot Engine but also likes to use Unity, Unreal & Pico-8.
Brendan was awarded a first class honours Game Design BA from Technological University Dublin and has a background in XR development, animation & 3D modelling.
He doesn’t have a favourite game but he thinks immersive sims & horror games are pretty neat.

Here is a variety of game projects in various stages of development that I have worked on.

Wee Boats is a game to catch a breath with. A pause in your day. A moment of relax.
There are no objectives. Just a world full of character to explore and honk at!
You can keep a log of the things that you have honked at in your ships log.
Wee Boats is developed by James Poole with sound design & music by Laura Ryder.

S U M M O N B R E A K
Summon Break is a very short, hellish platformer made for Ludum Dare 55. In this game, you play as a demon trying to avoid being summoned by an evil sorcerer. Run, jump & fly around the stage to avoid the Summon Circles and collect Pips!
When you are caught by a Summon Circle, you’ll have a chance to defend yourself in a game of chance. Pips will be converted in to dice and you will roll against the sorcerer. If you win you can return to hell and continue playing.

Parasolus is a short endless “bouncer” made for mini-jam #108: Seaside. Roll & bounce along the beach as a parasol whilst avoiding the beachgoers and wildlife. The game can be played right here!
Parasolus was made in collaboration with video game composer, Laura Ryder.

kintsugi
Kintsugi is a short horror game inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. The original version was created for Global Game Jam 2020 using the theme ‘repair’.

To Boldly Grow is a relaxing, farming sim – in space!
Create, grow and trade your own unique plants. Can you use the power of botany
to turn an alien world into a home? To Boldly Grow is an indie title developed as a
submission for the BA in Game Design course at TU Dublin, Ireland. The game was
developed by Umbrella Goat – a small, five-person team.
